Behave Summer School on Agent-Based Modelling 2025
University of Brescia, Brescia, Italy, 1-12 September 2025
The school is jointly organised by the University of Milan (BehaveLab) and the University of Brescia (Department of Information Engineering) and supported by ESSA – European Social Simulation Association.
We aim to train students on agent-based modelling through lectures, hands-on sessions, project presentations, and personal consultation with experts. The school is hybrid and takes place at the University of Brescia (Italy) for up to 40 participants on site and an unlimited number of remote participants. Training sessions are held daily 09:00-13:00 and 14:00-17:00 (CET).
The first week is addressed to beginners (or experts needing a refresh) and will teach how to conceptualise, design and implement an agent-based model (ABM) with hands-on practice No coding skills are required.
The second week will provide advanced training on empirical calibration, validation, and parameter estimation, by exposing the students to the latest statistical techniques.
Students will have the opportunity to engage in one-to-one consultation sessions with the faculty to discuss their projects and to present ideas and work in progress to the class.
