Birgit Müller (Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research GmbH – UFZ, Germany) will be one of the invited lecturers at the Behave Summer School 2026! She will give a lecture on “Modeling Policy Impacts on Farmer Decisions and Ecosystems”.

Birgit is Head of Working Group POLISES (POLicy Instruments and Socio-Environmental Systems under global change) at the Department of Ecological Modelling at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ.

She develops process-based models for an enhanced understanding and governance of social-ecological systems under global change. Her research aims to explore dynamics of socio-environmental resource systems under uncertainty and study the effects of policy instruments for global food security and for coping with climate risk (such as weather insurances) on socio-environmental systems (SES) by an adequate representation of human decisions in agent-based models.

More information on her can be found on her home page here. Check the programme of the school here at this link: https://behavelab.org/behave-summer-school-on-agent-based-modelling/. The deadline for applications is closing on 15 June 2026.
